Transitions – Lower Sacramento River Fly Fishing Report

A lot of our rivers are in "transition" mode right now. The fish in the Lower Sac have started to transition into their winter mode. Low flows, gin clear water and small bugs are what to expect out there these days. If you can find a redd that's fired up with a few spawning salmon you can expect to find a handful of trout piled up behind.. but bugs should be your focal point. We've seen a lot of oversized rainbows come to the net this year, especially in the past few weeks. Winter time is when you should expect quality over quantity.
