Last Minute Opening – This Week

I just had another trip cancel this week, opening up Monday through Thursday (12/14-12/17). With the rivers dropping back into shape today, you can expect some pretty good steelhead fishing on both the Klamath and Trinity. If you are considering catching a few steelhead before the new year, the next few days should be a great window to make that happen. The potential for an epic steelhead trip is high this week. Call or text to set up your trip.  ...

Northern California Update

We've had some pretty bomber fishing happening up here the past few weeks. The Lower Sac has been consistently giving us big fish after big fish. Again, the dank, dark days will pop the BWOs and the trout get pretty grabby during that hatch window. Don't expect the fish to chow from sunup to sundown but you can count on a pretty solid mid-day bite. Checkout more photos here. Winter Steelhead are cruising upriver right now with the rain we are currently getting. With the projected forecast, rivers might be in and out of shape for the next week or so.. As long as they are fishable, expect to see some good steelhead fishin'. I just had Wednesday and Friday open up next week. Come up and get yourself a¬†few Winter Steelhead. ...

Northern California Fly Fishing Report

Fishing in Northern California is pretty damn good right now. We've got a little precipitation on the way which should bring a new batch of Steelhead up the Klamath and Trinity. Both rivers right now are low and clear, so a little bump in color and flow will be a good thing. There are good numbers of steelhead in the Klamath system this year. The Lower Sacramento River has given us some great winter fishing the past few trips out as well. Find yourself out there on a dark, drizzly day and be prepared to run into some big, wild rainbow trout. There have been a lot of big fish finding the net recently. I still have a few days open this month.. Get in on the goodness before "El...

Transitions – Lower Sacramento River Fly Fishing Report

A lot of our rivers are in "transition" mode right now. The fish in the Lower Sac have started to transition into their winter mode. Low flows, gin clear water and small bugs are what to expect out there these days. If you can find a redd that's fired up with a few spawning salmon you can expect to find a handful of trout piled up behind.. but bugs should be your focal point. We've seen a lot of oversized rainbows come to the net this year, especially in the past few weeks. Winter time is when you should expect quality over quantity. Checkout more photos here Steelhead fishing in the State of Jefferson has been very good so far this Fall. Expect to deal with ultra crowded conditions on the weekends...

Fall Update

We've had a pretty stellar Fall so far here in Northern California. Some cooler, wet weather has been a nice change of pace. The Egg drop is wide open on the Lower Sac right now. The Klamath has had a good little early push of fish up eating eggs as well. Flows on the Sac are down to 5 grand.. Fish have been chewing on eggs for the past few weeks. Expect some very obese fish to be caught in November and December. I had a client put a freakishly big trout to the net last week on the Sac. 30 inches of Rainbow Trout. Dwayne has been fly fishing for over 40 years all over the world. He caught the biggest trout of his life last week on the...

Fall, Finally.

Our banner summer fishing on the Sac has transitioned pretty nicely into the Fall Egg drop. There hasn't been much of a lull in the fishing all year. The cool spell we just had was a very welcomed change of pace. The Kings are cutting redds and dropping eggs, making for some very good fishing. We can expect this to last well into November this year as the Kings started their spawn a little late this year. There are still a couple of open days on the calendar this year to get in on this bomber fishing. This is coinciding with steelhead season too. November and December are great months to be chasing these anadromous fish on the Klamath and Trinity. Check out more images from the river HERE ...

Egg droppin’

Fishin' on the Sac is pretty damn good right now. The Kings seem to be stalling their spawn a wee bit still, waiting for cooler water. That hasn't stopped the big trout from looking for those little round balls of protein. Certain spots have actively spawning salmon. Those spots will give you multiple shots at chunky trout. It only takes a pair of spawners to have a few trout lined up behind.. Expect the coming weeks to be very good. Mornings have been perfect out but the 90 degree days are staring to get old. I'm ready for Fall and cooler weather to get here. I still have this THURSDAY AND SATURDAY open due to a cancelation. If you can swing it, it'd be very worth it. Here's what we've been finding on...

Prime Time – Openings

The Egg drop is slowly but surely starting on the Lower Sac. Kings are slow to get going because of the warmer than average water temperatures. You can expect it to be wide open by the end of the week. Bugs are still catching fish, so are the huevos. I just had a few days open up from cancelations.. As of right now I have this coming Friday open as well as next Wednesday and Thursday. That's it until Thanksgiving time. Jump on it if you want to get in on some bomber trout fishing. Check out some more snapshots here. ...

Pre Egg Drop

We've had some insane spinner falls the past few mornings and big hydropsyche hatches in the evenings. The fish are in as good of shape as they will be all year. Well fed may be an understatement. Oh yea, and they have the egg drop to look forward to. We can expect that to happen soon.. Bring on the Fall crowds. Steelhead are starting to show up in the Klamath system pretty good right now as well. We've got some solid options this time of year. Check out some snaps from the river here.. ...
