Montana May & July

Southwest Montana Sampler

The area around Dillon, Montana has quickly become our absolute favorite place to trout fish in the west. On this trip, we have access to a huge variety of different rivers and creeks to fish - some of the finest trout water the west has to offer. We are lucky to fish with the top local guides who are extremely knowledgeable, hardworking and patient. We mostly target large Brown Trout, but we also catch Rainbows, Cutthroat, Brook Trout, and Grayling on occasion. Streamer fishing, dry fly fishing, dry-dropper fishing, and nymphing are all tactics we employ here, which makes this trip great for beginners and seasoned anglers alike. Everyone leaves a better angler than when they arrived. The lodge itself is a charming oasis along the banks of the Lower Beaverhead. Chill on the back deck, or head out for some private water fishing after dinner. You will be well fed and will have fished to your heart’s content each day in this slice of paradise.

" Take care and thanks again to both you guys for such a fun Dillon experience this Spring and Summer. BTW… HR and his team…. over the top.. Great guys, they totally get the holistic experience of this thing we call global fly fishing, which is way more than just catching fish.. You have made a great partnership with PDO. Very aligned value system. You are doing it right. "

Alaska

August - September

Fall on the Kenai Peninsula

The main reason we have narrowed down our window to September on the Kenai Peninsula is because of the exceptional Steelhead fishing that is available. By the end of August, these big, bright migratory Steelhead start to enter select rivers on the peninsula. By the last week of August, there are solid, catchable numbers of fish in these river systems. We will leave the names of these rivers undisclosed until your arrival. One major point to note in considering this trip with us is that these rivers (and one specifically) do not "blow out" due to rain or snow. Conditions are as stable as you will find on any Steelhead river in the Pacific Northwest. At times, some of our favorite smaller creeks on the peninsula can run high and dirty from excessive rains but these do come back into fishable shape relatively quickly. You will never have to experience a "blown out" day of Steelhead fishing on this trip. The fish that enter these rivers are as fresh and as strong as you will find anywhere in the PNW. We mostly target them with nymph fishing techniques, however these rivers (one in particular) also lend themselves to excellent Spey fishing opportunities with lots of textbook water for swinging flies on double or single-hand setups.

Just got back from a 4-day hosted trip to Alaska with AC Fly Fishing, and I can honestly say it was the best guided fly fishing experience I’ve ever had. The level of professionalism, attention to detail, and overall experience from the AC team was second to none.

Every day on the water was perfectly organized — from logistics to gear to the incredible local knowledge the guides brought to every run and river. They put us on fish in some of the most beautiful settings imaginable and made the whole trip feel effortless.

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to destination trips, AC Fly Fishing sets the bar for what a guided experience should be. Top-notch operation, outstanding guides, and just great people all around.

Truly the best guide experience around. I’ll be back.

Flats Fishing in Northern Belize

After spending many years exploring and sampling some of the world’s top saltwater fly fishing destinations, we have finally settled on “Northern Belize in Drowned Cayes.” This trip encompasses everything that an angler could want in a saltwater fly fishing trip. We have experienced some great saltwater fisheries over the years but this trip stands out for a few main reasons. First of all, the diversity of fishing that is available in the part of Belize is second to none. The accommodations on a private 2-acre island are special and unique. The guides that we fish with all work very closely together and have a brother-like bond – very similar to how we operate as a guide crew in Northern California. The travel to get here is relatively easy compared to most destinations in the world.
